Jamie
Lee - Director Having
trained at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where he majored in directing,
Jamie relocated to South Wales to co-establish actorsworkshop while also working
as a freelance theatre tutor and director.
Jamie is interested in the positive effects theatre-based experiences can
have for both individuals and groups. Since graduating, he has worked within
a number of organisations, including the Sherman Youth Theatre, the Gate Arts
Centre, Bigfoot Theatre Arts, Llanover Hall, Coleg Gwent and the Wales Millennium
Centre as a workshop leader, director, curriculum designer and, on occasion,
as playwright. Jamie's credits include Death and the Maiden, Blue
Remembered Hills (UK Tour), Ghost Train, Tissue, Good
Person of Szechwan, Entertaining Mr. Sloane, Roberto Zucco,
West Side Story, The King and I, Closer, and numerous
children's shows including Alice in Wonderland, Robin Hood,
The Pied Piper and An Act of Murder (writer/director - Arts
Council Wales funded). He recently took up a post as youth theatre director
in Gloucestershire. Jamie is pleased to be working with the Teflonstage touring
company on thier new projects.
Michael
Plowman - Musical DirectorAfter
graduating from Reading and Cambridge Universities,
Michael spent his teaching career as Head of Music in a number of large comprehensive
schools. He has arranged and conducted concerts at Brighton's Dome Theatre
with over 200 musicians, sung in the Tower of London choir and been terrified
by a Dalek while singing on a BBC1 special.
Michael
is pleased to be working with Jamie Lee, having recently been Musical Director
with him for the successful Porthcawl Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society's
production of 'Calamity Jane'
As
well as continuing as an examiner for GCSE and A level music, Michael's next
project is 'Gypsy' with Bridgend Youth Theatre before travelling to Paris
to sing with the BBC National Chorus of Wales.
Margaret
Lawrence-Waters - Director of ChoreographyMargaret
started dancing at the age of 7 doing most of her training with Molly Spicer
of the Little Academy of Dance. During this time Margaret fell in love with
Ballet and after winning a scholarship with The British Ballet Organization
at the age of 11 decided to make dance her career. When Margaret was 17 she
was accepted by the famous Ballet Rambert School where she continued to train.
Growing too tall for ballet she decided to make her career in commercial dance
and was soon working on the prestigious cruise liner QE2. She took a short
break to work in pantomime in the Theatre Royal Bath with John Noakes, Peter
Purves, Lesley Judd and Ben Warris. Margaret then returned to the ship as
dance captain for a further two and a half years, meeting many stars of stage
and screen. Her favourite has to be Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Margaret
worked with the comedy duo The Krankies as one of their four dancers, performing
in all of their pantomimes, summer seasons and tours over several years. She
has worked with many of the top choreographers including Irving Davies, Dougie
Squires, Peter Gordeno and Alan Harding to name a few. Since returning to
Newport, Margaret has got married and opened her dancing school, specialising
in her first love, classical ballet and modern jazz. She has worked on a number
of shows and is pleased to be working with Teflonstage on Lili.
