'Lili'
Introduced to the world as an anti-war lyric, 'Lili Marlene' went on to become the most popular of wartime songs. Reviled by Goebbels yet loved by the troops, the original recording artist, Lale Andersen, was driven to attempted suicide by the Nazis. The surviving records show that she was saved from further harm by BBC broadcasts.
Teflonstage's
production recounts the song's rise from obscurity to international reknown,
as famous stars of the time took on the might of Goebbels' Ministry for Propaganda
and the British Government's 'Dance Music Policy Committee'.
